She was a selfish, whiny, stupid creature, and is quite possibly one of my least favourite protagonists of all time. In The Selection, I would have been quite happy if she had just walked off a cliff that I was mentally willing to spontaneously erupt by her bedroom.
In fact, unlike The Selection, I actually have a couple of good things to say about The Elite!Įverything I enjoyed about this book involved the character development of America. I know that this is a controversial topic in the book review community, but I’m not going to mindlessly bash the novel in this review. I picked up The Elite because I was in a bad mood and needed something to hate!read. Can she let go of Aspen and accept the responsibility of becoming a queen? Or are the savage realities of being a royal just too much for America to handle? The Elite picks up when there are only six women left, and Maxon is pressuring America to finally decide whether she is ready to commit to him. Instead, America finds herself immersed in political controversies and catty women, all for a prize that she doesn’t even want. However, her heart was still yearning for Aspen, the boy she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. The Northerner-Southerner Invasions and America’s Struggle with her own Feelings and Rightfulness really gets Good in this part after a bit of a Bore 2nd Part (The Elite). In The Selection, America Singer was chosen as one of 35 young women all competing to win the heart of Prince Maxon. The ending gets really intense and makes you stick on until the last. Also in this part, we get to see the Faceoff / Meeting between the Northener Leader, Augustus Illea (Yeah he is an Illea) and Maxon along with America and Augustus’s Wife, the same girl who bowed to America in last part when Northerners Invaded the Palace. The girls realize that how The Selection has changed their life forever, whether that gets to marry the Prince or not. Apart from all the Tension that build up between them, they start to embrace each others presence in their lives. Now that the selection is getting more harder for all the girls, They start to share a sisterly love. This part is about America realizing (still not completely) about her feelings for Maxon and Aspen. ( Spoiler Warning if you haven’t read the Previous 2 Parts of The Selection!)
